Set Pressure, Blowdown & Discharge Capacity
Compare the key pressure and discharge characteristics of our A21, A41 and A42 safety valve series. Final valve sizing should be based on the service medium, set pressure, relieving conditions, temperature and required discharge capacity.
| Parameter | A21 Micro-Lift | A41 Micro-Lift | A42 Full-Lift |
|---|---|---|---|
| Connection | Threaded | Flanged | Flanged |
| Nominal Pressure | PN1.6 / PN4.0 / PN6.4 | PN1.6 / PN4.0 / PN6.4 | PN1.6 / PN4.0 / PN6.4 |
| Set Pressure Range | 0.1–6.4 MPa* | 0.1–6.4 MPa* | 0.1–6.4 MPa* |
| Discharge Pressure | ≤ 1.1 Pk | ≤ 1.1 Pk | ≤ 1.1 Pk |
| Reseating Pressure | ≥ 85% Pk | ≥ 85% Pk | ≥ 85% Pk |
| Derived Blowdown | ≤ 15%** | ≤ 15%** | ≤ 15%** |
| Opening Height | 1/20 of flow diameter | 1/20 of flow diameter | 1/4 of flow diameter |
| Discharge Coefficient | 0.16 | 0.16 | 0.75 |
| Discharge Characteristic | Micro-lift | Micro-lift | Full-lift / higher discharge capability |
| Typical Selection Focus | Compact threaded installation | Flanged industrial installation | Applications requiring greater relieving capability |
** Derived Blowdown: Calculated from the catalog reseating requirement of ≥85% of set pressure (Pk); it is not a separately stated catalog blowdown value.
Capacity Note: Actual relieving capacity depends on the service medium, relieving pressure, temperature, effective flow area and required discharge rate. Discharge coefficient alone should not be used for final valve sizing.
Various Connection Types
In industrial projects, check valves must comply with the corresponding connection methods and installation requirements.

Frequently Asked Questions About Safety Valves
1. What is the difference between micro-lift and full-lift safety valves?
Micro-lift and full-lift safety valves use different opening structures and are selected according to the required discharge performance and operating conditions. Our catalog includes A21 and A41 micro-lift safety valves as well as A42 full-lift safety valves. The final selection should be based on the medium, set pressure, temperature, required discharge capacity and installation conditions.
2. What media can your safety valves be used for?
Depending on the valve model and material configuration, our safety valves are available for media such as water, steam, air, gas and liquefied petroleum gas. Medium compatibility should always be checked together with operating temperature, pressure and valve material before selection.
3. What pressure ranges are available for your safety valves?
Available pressure ratings depend on the valve series. Our catalog covers multiple nominal pressure classes, including common 1.6, 2.5, 4.0 and 6.4 MPa configurations, as well as higher-pressure A42Y-160 and A42Y-320 series. The required set pressure and operating conditions should be confirmed before selecting a model.
4. What temperature range can your safety valves handle?
The allowable temperature depends on the safety valve model, body material, sealing material and service medium. Different models in our catalog are specified for different temperature limits, so temperature should be confirmed together with pressure and medium rather than using one temperature range for the entire product line.
5. What information should I provide when selecting a safety valve?
To select a suitable safety valve, please provide the service medium, set pressure, operating pressure, operating temperature, nominal size (DN), connection type and preferred material. For applications with specific discharge requirements, the required relieving capacity and installation conditions should also be considered.
